You have the ability in your hands to solve the Mystery of Drawing Well and to create beautiful artwork. Stephanie will teach you how to see and tap the creative side of your brain. Enjoy learning and developing basic skills involving value studies, the effects of light and shadow, line qualities, composition, and more. The result will be a finished, well-thought-out drawing you will proud to show.

Here's your chance to learn oil painting basics for beginners. In each class, James will demonstrate and give you individual attention as you do your own painting. You will learn by watching and doing. Using photos for reference you will learn how to develop a concept for your painting, how to compose a painting, how to mix colors, and how to make different brushstrokes. Most importantly, you will learn how to see color notes to discover the essential beauty of your subject.

This class is designed for artists of all levels. Through lecture and demonstration, Gary emphasizes a loose, lyrical beginning, and finishing with flair and magic brush strokes. Learn to develop painting strategies for each painting and the importance of setting personal goals. Create paintings that have 'Wall Power,' and liberate yourself by becoming more lyrical than literal in the interpretation of your subject. This workshop will help you 'loosen up', and experience the joy of painting in transparent watercolor.

Bring your creative self to this highly experimental workshop. No experience is necessary. Students will learn the basics of monoprint. Using non-toxic paints, students will safely explore printing methods including additive and reductive methods. Students at all levels will enjoy this workshop. We will be printing on paper, but textile and collage artists are welcome to print on fabric as well.

Come photograph the magic of spring in the Columbia Gorge, timed for the peak wildflower season. Also, view the orchards in full blossom and the fresh green of the waterfalls in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area and. Shoot Multnomah Falls, the ÒgranddaddyO of the 77 waterfalls, at 620 feet. Revel in the delicate beauty of the smaller falls: Wahkeena Falls, Latourell Falls, and Shepperd's Dell Falls, all gems and easily reachable from the Historic Columbia River Highway that winds amid lush green trees and neon-bright lichens. Students will learn how to set up shots and how to find the right locations to get great shots. This part of Oregon offers some of the best landscape photo opportunities anywhere.

You'll enjoy photographing the dramatic sea stacks, waterfalls and beaches of the northern Oregon Coast with master photographer David Cobb as your guide. We'll also be visiting the lighthouses along the southern Washington coastline, and there will be ample time to capture those spectacular coastal sunsets and sunrises. Take your quilt designs to a new level! This workshop will show you how to start with an original photograph, line drawing or painting and create a departure from its reality. We will do 6+ different exercises to explore the abstract and non-representational designs which include, shape, line, blind painting, ÒcubingO, zooming, abstract still life. Composition, color schemes and a well thought out plan will be emphasized. A quilt design will be fully realized. Many different techniques will be discussed to help you create your quilt such as appliquŽ, piecing, fusing, collage, and painting and stamping on the surface.

If you are entering the world of digital photography or have been trying to understand the principles of digital photography, this workshop is designed for your. We will cover the principles of photography (exosure, focusing, etc) and the elements introduced by the digital camera (white balance, histograms, scene shooting, and more). Any camera is accepted for the workshop. Bring it with you, and if possible, bring your camera manual along. This is a one-day workshop for beginners and intermediate users.

Come and learn how to organize, manage and optimize your photographs. This workshop is designed for digital photographers interested in using Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom software. Topics covered include resolution considerations, file types, storage options, organizing and cataloging, global and local changes to images, using color spaces, sharpening, reducing digital noise, and preparing the image for final printing or Internet use. This workshop is designed to teach the digital photographer the workflow necessary to produce top-level photographic prints using inkjet printers. Topics covered include the printing workflow, color management, monitor calibration, correcting color casts, adjustment layers, custom profile generation, and paper selection/considerations. Please bring at least four photographs, some of which you will print during the workshop. This is a one-day workshop for all levels.

Your artistic journey will be led by Alfred Currier (www.alfredcurrier.com), an accomplished impressionist with a passion for plein air oil painting. Currier has traveled widely, painting on location in Greece, France, Italy, Holland, Argentina, Mexico, Hawaii, Santa Fe, Taos, Santa Barbara, and Laguna Beach. Painting sessions with Currier will include demonstrations and group painting en plein air and in studio, lectures, and one-on-one time.

In your journey to understand Umbria, Anthony Turpin (www.turpinart.com), Italian traveler and watercolor artist, will be your guide. Turpin will lead through walking tours, meals in local restaurants, visits to shops, museums, vineyards, villages, and farms. He also will work with watercolor artists during the painting sessions.
