Jean Williams Cacicedo Estimated Materials Fee: $30
August 26-29, 2010
In this four day workshop we will explore the transformative properties of various cloths and how their natural surface beauty and structure can be distorted to inspire us in both our craft and our art. Methods of working will place emphasis on both the clothÕs surface and structure through manipulation, deconstruction and reconstruction techniques. We will utilize cotton, silk, polyester and wool fabrics with emphasis on wool as fiber content with ability to transform. Design ideas will incorporate shrinking, fusing, slashing and stitching. There will be samples made of all the various techniques, slides to view and time for creating a small project for use in a garment design. All levels of expertise are welcome. Basic sewing skills are required.
