Join the Pacific NorthWest Art School's 2010 Painting Expedition to the enchanting town of Torgiano, Umbria, Italy; (www.bella-umbria.com or www.initaly.com/regions/umbria/sims.htm) situated two hours north of Rome and two hours south of Florence.  Originally an Etruscan enclave, later a Roman fort, Torgiano sits on an elliptical hilltop above the confluence of the Tiber and Chiàscio, overlooking the two rivers' broad valleys below.  Here amid the sweeping views of the vineyard-filled valleys and sparkling rivers you will spend ten days becoming an Umbrian artist .

Your artistic journey will be led by Alfred Currier (www.alfredcurrier.com), an accomplished impressionist with a passion for plein air oil painting. Currier has traveled widely, painting on location in Greece, France, Italy, Holland, Argentina, Mexico, Hawaii, Santa Fe, Taos, Santa Barbara, and Laguna Beach.  Painting sessions with Currier will include demonstrations and group painting en plein air and in studio, lectures, and one-on-one time.

In your journey to understand Umbria, Anthony Turpin (www.turpinart.com), Italian traveler and watercolor artist, will be your guide.  Turpin will lead through walking tours, meals in local restaurants, visits to shops, museums, vineyards, villages, and farms.  He also will work with watercolor artists during the painting sessions.
