What uniquely happens on silk when liquid color is applied? When does the process require skill and when does it need me to wait and watch? We will work with this inquiry in this workshop. Various techniques (under-painting, layering, thickened dye, spray finishing, foiling) will create richness of color plus the textures of manipulated dye. We will work with traditional gutta resist lines, as well as stippled gutta for unusual effects. Good composition is always a focus. With a sense of play plus genuine encouragement, each person is supported to find their own unique voice on silk.

In general students should have prior silk painting experience, however, a limited number of students without much prior experience will be allowed to join the class.
